Miscellaneous Favorite Web links
These links provide you with some insight into my quirky, but reflective personality!
RottenTomatoes.com: Because I am a huge movie buff, I often go to this site for the some of the best reviews on the Internet!
StarTrek.com: Yes, I am a proud Trekkie - "Live long and prosper." If you are also a Trekkie, visit this site for the latest Star Trek info.
MSNBC.com: My favorite source for a fuller spectrum of news.
Out & About Newspaper: Tennessee's Best Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, & Transgender (GLBT) Source for News in Print.
CNN Uncovering America - Fighting for Acceptance: Excellent resource on the efforts by the GLBT community to build support and gain allies in the struggle for equality.
Space.com: One of my scholarly interests is astronomy. This site is great for fellow astro geeks. This site also has great Wallpapers for your PC desktop!
OpenOffice.org: This site offers a full productivity office suite for FREE (really). The suite is comparable to high price suites like Microsoft Office and WordPerfect as well as fully compatible. Check it out and see what you think. (DO NOT download any third-party software onto Columbia State's computers!)
Chegg.com: This is a good textbook rental site.
CheapestTextbooks.com: Use this site to look up affordable textbooks.
Adobe Downloads: You simply cannot live without Adobe. Download the latest Reader and Flash Player from this site. (DO NOT download any third-party software onto Columbia State's computers!)
Skeptic's Dictionary: I regularly lecture about the importance of being a good critical thinker and a healthy skeptic. This site offers alternative and empirical explanations for common paranormal phenomena.
Parapsychological Association: I also regularly talk about the fact that a very small percentage of paranormal phenomena cannot be explained via empirical arguments and scientific evidence. I tell students that being a good critical thinker not only entails having a healthy dose of skepticism, but it also entails remaining open to the possibility of events. Check this site out for another view.
MarvelDirectory.com: I love Marvel Comics, especially The X-men and Spider-man. This site offers a great directory to nearly all of the characters of the Marvel Universe.
The Batman: My all-time favorite comic book hero is The Batman, who has no superpowers and relies only on advance scientific skill, keen detective abilities, and a genius level intellect to solve problems and fight crime. I think he has the coolest and most well-developed collection of villains and the comic itself has stood the test of time. This link takes you to a very good Wikipedia entry on the "Dark Knight".
VirtualReligion.net: Another scholarly interest of mine is theology and comparative religion. This site is a great source for information on various world religions and systems of belief.
The Moderate Voice: The Moderate Voice is a great news blog that offers insightful news analysis and commentary across the socio-political spectrum. I love this site!
Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy: I am a philosopher at heart and I used this resource all the time during my undergraduate years studying philosophy. It provides wonderful information on various topics.
American Humanist Association: I study, promote, and live by a humanist philosophy concerning all things. I invite students and visitors to explore this link to learn more about humanist philosophy.
